The launch of the Turkish translation of the “Teaching Public Service in the Digital Age Syllabus” hosted by our Department of Public Administration was held on Wednesday, 11 December 2024, between 14:00-15:00 on Zoom. The event was attended by many academics and experts in the field of Political Science and Public Administration.
Opening Speech and Speakers
The opening speeches of the event and the importance and necessity of our department in terms of its place in the discipline were delivered by Prof. Dr. Elif Erişen, Dean of Yeditepe University FEAS, and Pontus Westerberg, Executive Director of Teaching Public Service in the Digital Age. Also in the program;
Prof. Dr. Naci Karkın (Pamukkale University & UNU-EGOV) emphasized the importance of Turkish translation in the international academic community.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. M. Deniz Tansi (Head of Yeditepe University Department of Public Administration) talked about the opportunities provided by such a new generation training material in the digital transformation process of public administration.
Assist. Prof. Dr. Prof. Hande Tek Turan (Yeditepe University) explained that digitalization presents an inevitable transformation process for the future of the Public Administration discipline and shared information about the translation and adaptation process of the curriculum into Turkish.
Purpose of the Event
In this event, which aims to introduce new generation educational materials in the field of public administration and public policy in the digital age, the Turkish translation of the internationally used “Teaching Public Service in the Digital Age (TPSDA)” curriculum was introduced. It was stated that the program is already used in more than 70 of the world's leading universities such as Oxford, Harvard, Carnegie Mellon, Konstanz, UCL, Yeditepe University.

The details of the open access curriculum, which aims to provide the skills needed by public officials in the digital age, were shared with the participants.
After the launch, a short Q&A session was organized focusing on the current and future impacts of digitalization in public administration.
Throughout the event, opinions and suggestions of the participants were received and experiences regarding the implementation of the curriculum in the field were discussed.
