Course Objectives: 

The aim of this course is to increase the knowledge and skills of students who have taken the SPRI 414 Mapping in Social Sciences-1 course with the use of appropriate cartography programs (QGIS, ArcGIS, MapInfo) in different fields of social sciences, and using more advanced geopolitical analysis using different data and methods to produce maps.

Course Content: 

This course is a continuation of SPRI 414 Mapping in Social Sciences-1. Students who have taken SPRI 414 will have basic knowledge on cartography, thematic map analysis and geographic information systems and gain the ability to make maps on the computer by using data related to social sciences. In the Social Sciences Mapping-2, thematic map studies will be applied with different symbols and different designs and students will gain the ability about geographical coding and projections in Qgis program and advanced Geographic Information Systems. In the second part of the course, it is aimed to develop the skill of mapping in accordance with the principles of cartography after obtaining basic gains related to different thematic map types in social sciences.
