During the initial years, the Yeditepe University International Finance program includes basic courses such as History, Mathematics, Economics, Statistical Software and Data Compiling, Academic English, Financial Accounting and Management. In later years, we offer specialized courses such as Statistics, Econometrics, Micro and Macro Economics, Financial Markets and Institutions, Principles of Finance, Corporate Finance, International Financial Management, Law, Corporate Governance and Ethics, Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management, Derivatives Markets, Technical and Fundamental Analysis on Stock Exchange, Financial Risk Analysis/Management, Monetary Economics, Turkish Capital Markets, and Financial Services Marketing. Among the advanced area specialization courses, students can take Blockchain Applications and Cryptocurrencies, Insurance, Advanced Investment Analysis/Alternative Investments, Financial Calculus, Mergers and Acquisitions, Behavioral Finance, Public Finance, Managerial and Cost Accounting, Asian and European Economies,  Algorithmic Trade, International Corporate Finance, Turkish Industry, Turkish Tax System, Artificial Intelligence and Real Estate Valuation/Management.

We have eleven electives that allow students to create their own concentration areas from multidisciplinary subjects, along with Internship for real-life experience and Graduation Project for conducting research and presenting the results in a public forum.

International Finance is designed to be an interdisciplinary program that combines Finance with Business, Economics, Technology, Ethical Decision Making, Prediction, Analytics and Critical Thinking. To be effective in finance today, students need to understand technology and how it is changing global business models. We incorporate this in our program. Our Finance Lab prepares students to be able to use the latest technology for financial research and for trading on international markets that is used by financial institutions worldwide. We introduce new courses such as Blockchain Applications, Advanced Investment Analysis which cover Alternative Investments, Algorithmic Trade, Artificial Intelligence and Financial Services Marketing based on industry trend. 

We can leverage our placement within the University to provide students access to state-of-the-art courses taught by faculty specialized in related areas. Courses in computer programming, web development, artificial intelligence, big data and cybersecurity can prepare students for areas such as fintech and financial platform development. International collaborations of the International Finance Program include the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program, which confirms the quality of our program to meet the current needs of the business world at the international level, two different double diploma programs with two schools, one in the United States and the other in Canada, our Erasmus and Exchange agreements under the International Office, and  our collaborative research projects.

What is the duration of compulsory internships in the International Finance Department?

The International Finance Department students at Yeditepe University are required to do six weeks internship in the sixth semester. Upon graduation, they have completed a total of 6 weeks of internship and gain experience in the sector.

What are the factors that a student studying in the International Finance Department should consider when choosing an internship place?

The place of internship to be selected by our students at the Yeditepe University International Finance Department should be from the enterprises related to the finance sector. Our students mostly do internships in international corporations, investment companies, and financial institutions. They also have the opportunity to do internships in insurance agencies and companies providing services to the finance sector.

Should the student of the Department of International Finance find his / her place of internship / can he/she get support in finding an internship place?

In the International Finance Department of Yeditepe University, students can find their own internship company subject to faculty approval. The career center has a list of companies for internship and holds a regular events for internship opportunities. Companies may also report their need for interns to our academicians, who then inform students about such needs.

Can compulsory internships in International Finance Department be done abroad?

As an International Finance student at Yeditepe University, you can do your compulsory internship abroad. For this, you can benefit from the internship opportunities offered by the Erasmus program or you can do your compulsory internship abroad through organizations such as "Work and Travel".

Is it possible for a student enrolled in the Department of International Finance to take on a second major?

Students of the Department of International Finance at Yeditepe University have the opportunity to declare double majors with the departments of the Faculty of Economy & Administrative Sciences and certain departments of other faculties. There are no quotas for double major programs and it is possible to design new double major programs or program agreements based on student request.

The double major program must have at least 30 credits in addition to the total credit of the major program, provided that both major courses meet the total credit hours required for graduation and other requirements of these programs. The double major program can be applied for at the earliest third and at the latest fifth semester of the registered program (Department of Business Administration)

In order to accept a student's double major application:

To have successfully completed all courses taken in the major program (Department of Business Administration) of which it is registered until the period of application

At the time of application for a double major program, the GPA of the major program (Department of Business Administration) must be at least 3.00.

In order to start the double major program with a scholarship, the student's GPA is 3.25 out of 4.00.

The double major program must have a placement score of not less than the base score of the relevant year.

The student must be successful in the aptitude test for the admission of students to the double major diploma program.

No more than one major program can be registered at the same time. However, at the same time, student can register for the minor program with a second major diploma. The student in the double major program can transfer to the second major diploma program when the major program provides the conditions in accordance with the transition provisions within the higher education institution.

During the double major education, the student's CGPA can be reduced to 2.50 for one time only. If the GPA falls below 2.50 for the second time, the student is dismissed from the second major diploma program. Students who do not take courses from the double major program for two consecutive semesters are deleted from the second major program.

In order to graduate from the second major program, the CGPA must be at least 2.70 and the graduation requirements of the programs must be fulfilled. The second major diploma is given to the student who continues the double major program if student graduated from the first major program.

Students who have completed the major program but who are missing from the second major program can be extended for a maximum of two semesters upon the decision of the board of directors of the faculty where the second major program is located. However, if an extension is required in double major programs where credit load is intensive, an additional two semesters can be extended. A second degree diploma is given to the students who have the right to graduate from the undergraduate program and have completed the double major program.

Is a student enrolled in the Department of International Finance eligible for declaring a minor?

The minor program must have at least 21 credits in addition to the major courses (International Finance). The minor program can be applied for at the earliest third and latest sixth semester of the registered program (International Finance).

In order to be admitted to a minor program:

Successful completion of all courses taken in the major program (International Finance) where he/she is registered until the semester he/she applies

At the time of application for the minor program, the GPA of the major program (International Finance) must be at least 2.50.

In order to apply for a scholarship, the students must apply with 3.00 out of 4.

 No more than a one-second major program can be registered at the same time. However, at the same time, you can register for the minor program with a second major diploma.

In order for the student to attend the minor program, the GPA of the major program (International Finance) must be at least 2.30. Students who fail to meet this requirement will be dismissed from the minor program. Students who do not take courses from the minor program for two consecutive semesters are dismissed from the minor program. In order to receive a minor certificate, the general CGPA of the major (International Finance) must be at least 2.30. Students who have completed the major program (International Finance) and who are missing the minor program can be extended for a maximum of two semesters upon the decision of the board of directors of the faculty in which the minor program is located. Students who have the right to graduate from the undergraduate program (International Finance) and successfully complete the minor program are awarded a minor certificate.

Graduates of the International Finance Department are involved in banks, insurance companies, investment advising and portfolio management companies, auditing firms, international corporations, state owned enterprises and public organizations. By selecting appropriate electives, a minor or a second major, students can also be employed in fields that require inter-disciplinary knowledge such as development of financial platforms, digital integration, business analytics and fintech using technologies of the future such as big data and artificial intelligence. Can I find a job immediately after I graduate from the Department of International Finance?

During the university education, our students in International Finance Department go through an intensive internship program to be able to apply their managerial and professional theoretical knowledge in the business environment and to facilitate their employment after graduation and to introduce themselves to the sector and sector professionals. In this way, many of our students receive job offers from the companies they do an internship while they are still students; as soon as they graduate without going through the job search period after graduation, they are taken into the business life. After graduating from the Department of International Finance, a master's degree (or, under certain conditions, an Integrated PhD) can be obtained in several fields. Mostly preferred fields include (but not limited to) areas such as financial economics, business administration, economics, marketing as well as fields related to business technology such as in Management Information Systems, or specialized fields such as E-Trade and Big Data.

Can I transfer to Yeditepe University International Finance Department?

Yeditepe International Finance accepts both horizontal and vertical transfer students.

Horizontal Transfer

In our university, three types of horizontal transfers are possible: In-house, according to the average grade between institutions and according to the central placement score.

•  In-house horizontal transfers can be made to any undergraduate program within the university provided that the conditions of transition announced each year are announced. Undergraduate programs cannot be transferred in the first two semesters and last two semesters. To apply for transfer between undergraduate programs, the central placement score of the student who is eligible for the undergraduate program that he/she wants to pass as of the year he/she enters the central exam must not be less than the lowest score of the undergraduate programs of other universities in Turkey. The time spent outside the foreign language preparatory class before the transfer is included in the teaching period. In this context, the total period of education of a student who has been transferred from any undergraduate program whose education period is four years to another four-year undergraduate program cannot exceed seven years. These periods are determined not to exceed eight years for those with five years and nine years for programs with six years.

•  A second horizontal transfer method is the horizontal transition according to the average grade between institutions. The general rules and principles of this transition are announced once a year in June every year on the web site of our university. For details, please visit our web page.

• The third type of transfer is the type of transfer within and between institutions according to the Central Placement Points. Vertical Transfer

• Our International Finance Department also accepts students through vertical transfer (DGS). Information regarding quotas and points can be followed in the Vertical Transfer Guide published by OSYM in July every year.

What are the accommodation/dormitory opportunities if a student who does not prefer Yeditepe University International Finance Department lives outside Istanbul / within Istanbul?

Our dormitories located on the campus of Yeditepe University located in Ataşehir in the center of Istanbul have a capacity of 4,250 beds.
