This course aims to reveal the place of globalization in the world economy and its relationship with the concept of imperialism. In this context, global economic actors such as Multinational Corporations (CUS), IMF, World Bank, World Trade Organization will be examined. In addition, the concept of "governance", which aims to create a "world government", will also be emphasized.
The definition and characteristics of globalization, as well as the concepts of imperialism and colonialism, will be covered in the course, and the differences between two phenomena will be revealed. The topics of this course include the crises in the capitalist system (1873, 1929, 2008), the nation-state problem, the struggle for hegemony in the globalization process (US-China conflict), the roles of the IMF, World Bank and World Trade Organization in the global economy, anti-globalization movements, income inequality in the world will be discussed. It will be tried to examine what the concept of governance is, the economic and political dominance of transnational companies at the global level and the effort to create a "world government", the understanding of the state to be managed like a "firm", the dependence of important financial institutions of nation states on global organizations under the name of independent regulatory institutions.
