This course will teach the students many different aspects of purchasing, warehousing and distribution. It directs the participants to learn the changes in strategic purchasing, warehousing and distribution management, and outlines the expanding role of these managers in many organizations. It also covers some special issues regarding international purchasing and supply chain management. Warehousing management is also another important issue in logistics management. The course program also covers the special issues in warehouse management and inventory management.
The course will start with the issues related with purchasing in businesses. This part includes purchasing strategy and forecasting, supplier selection and evaluation, international considerations and legalities. Next, we continue with the topics of warehousing and inventory management. These include materials handling, economical theories of inventory modeling and warehousing strategies. Finally, the last part is Distribution and Transportations. In this final section, transportation and traffic management and distribution channels management will be covered.
