Course Objectives: 

The class aims to introduce students to the field of political economy in general and a select set of contemporary issues related to Turkish industry within the larger context of development

Course Content: 

Specifically, the class can highlight major structural economic transformations and political developments in the Republican era with particular emphasis on the role of the Turkish industry, and explore state-business relationships within the larger context of development. The class emphasizes substantive puzzles that draw scholars, students and practitioners to the study of   Turkish political economy. It also aims to provide students a variety of theories, frameworks, and models, including “-isms” that can be applied to a wide variety of topics.
